Cordless Summer Fun Power Tools

One benefit of being a Ryobi Nation contributor is that sometimes I get to try out the new tools coming out.  The designers at Ryobi must have summer fun on the brain with these new tools.  Work Hard and Play Hard right!  The nice thing is that these summer fun power tools use the same 18V Ryobi batteries that you already have in the garage/shop.  Charge up those batteries and head out to the lake to cool off! It's time to get out of the shop and have some summer fun, but don't worry you can take your power tools with you. 3 cordless summer fun power tools that you need!

Each year on the 4th of July, the whole fam gets together for the good old home town celebration.  We start the day off with exhilarating races for the kids and adults, foot races, 3-legged races and potato sack races. Then on to the candy toss, money in the hay, egg toss, the grease pole and Coach Braithwaite’s tennis tournament! There is a program on the park center stage along with fun booths and of course yummy food.

In the evening, it’s off to the community parade, a BBQ and the finale is the spectacular city firework show! My Dad loves to drive his Power Horse tractor in the parades.  Don’t tell those queens what kind of ‘trailer’ they’re riding in 🙂 Spreading sunshine!

During the middle of the day when there is a break in festivities, often the temperature gets to be about 100 degrees and we need to find a way to stay cool.  We head on down to the ‘res’ for a little water fun.  This year I brought my Ryobi cordless summer fun gear and everyone loved it.

First, I rolled out the Ryobi Air Conditioning cooler.

Air Conditioned Cooler, Gray

The baby had fallen asleep, so I put her in the shade tent with the A/C going and that helped keep her cool.

The cool Ryobi cooler has two compartments on top, one to stash stuff and the other for the battery.  The battery runs the fan that will blow cold air if you have ice in the cooler.

There is a cooling tower inside the ice chest part that will circulate the air through to make it cold.

One thing we found out is that you can either choose to use the cooler as an ice chest or A/C unit (not both). If the A/C is on it won’t keep your popsicles frozen, but it will definitely keep drinks nice and cold.

To blow up all of the water toys, my Dad usually packs a gas generator and compressor to the lake. As he was getting the generator and compressor going I said Hey, I have a tool for that. I pulled out the Ryobi high volume inflator, he looked at it and said Oh the compressor will be faster. So we raced 🙂 the Ryobi inflator won, hands down. Plus it’s a whole lot smaller and more convenient.

By the time we were done, the inflator was on all of my siblings buy list. It can handle the big toys (like shown), pop on the small nozzle and blow up small things like floating toys/rings.  The great thing is that you can move the nozzle from the front to the top and now you have a de-flator. Also the trigger has a setting so you don’t have to hold it down the whole time. Ya we’ve used this tool a bunch this summer, it’s a great buy for $25!!!

While we take turns with the water toys, it’s nice to have some tunes going on the beach. These new bluetooth wireless radio/speakers are so handy.

18-Volt One+ Score Wireless Speaker Set with Skaa Technology

There is a mother radio/speaker that you can turn on the radio or connect to your phone’s playlist via bluetooth. Connect up to 4 additional ‘children’ speakers wirelessly up to 150 feet.

We loved this. We spread out the speakers down the line of chairs on the beach so everyone in the group could hear the music without it BLASTING on one end of the group and the people on the other end barely hearing it. The mother/child speakers all run off of 18v batteries or can be plugged in. Super convenient.

Take a break this summer and go have some FUN!

Today I’m participating in a virtual party with 9 bloggers to show how we customized the Bottle Opener Game. We love flavored soda pops around here, there are so many delicious concoctions especially anything coconut ie “dirty”. This is a fun way to mix it up and try new combos.

Here’s how it works:

  • POP-A-TOP off of your favorite cold soda
  • Let your bottle cap DROP through the nail maze into one of the FLAVOR slots
    • Raspberry, Mango, Strawberry, Coconut, Peach
  • Add flavored syrup to your soda
  • Enjoy!

Hi!  I’d love to for you to follow me on Pinterest Her Tool Belt  and if you love instagram, you can keep up with me there too!

Have you ever had a Woof ’em?

Woof-em: a delicious campfire treat. You've gotta try these

We love to cook dutch oven dinner and roast hot dogs and marshmallows, but my friend recently told me about the most delicious campfire treat – Woof ’ems.  Have you tried them?
Rumor on the street is they get their name because they’re so tasty that you Woof them down!  Yum

First, You need to build special roasting sticks.

Materials needed:

woof-em stick biscuit end on hertoolbelt

Cut the 1 1/4″ round dowel into 3″ lengths.  Drill a 3/8″ hole (or slightly larger than the 3/8″ dowel) down the center of the 3″ dowel piece about 2 1/2″ deep.

woof-em sand dowel piecesLightly sand the 3″ dowel pieces to remove and rough areas, and slightly round the edges.

woof-em stick, glue dowelDrill a 3/8″ hole in the center of the 3″ dowel piece about 2 1/2″ deep.  Make sure the 3/8″ dowel fits in the drilled hole.  Put a dab of wood glue in the drilled hole.  Lightly coat the 3/8″ dowel with wood glue and slide the dowel into the hole.  Wipe off any excess wood glue.  Allow the glue to dry, at least over night.

Woof-em soak stick in cooking oilBefore using the Woof ’em sticks for the first time, soak them in cooking oil for a few hours.  (Spray big stick end with Pam cooking spray in between biscuit roastings.)

Now for the fun part, making and eating the Woof ’ems.  The recipes and concoction possibilities are endless.  Here are some of our favorites:

  • Vanilla pudding
  • Chocolate pudding
  • Coconut pudding
  • Fluffernutter – Mix together 7 oz Marshmallow Creme jar and 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter.
  • Nutella/creamcheese  – Mix together 8 oz cream cheese, 2 heaping spoonfuls of Nutella spread and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.  Add more Nutella as desired.
  • Drizzle with Smucker’s chocolate coconut topping.
  • Fruit pie filling
  • Always top with whipping cream!

The crust of the Woof ’em is made from refrigerator biscuits.  The small biscuits make a perfect size, but for a deep dish style use Pillsbury Grands Jr. woof-em stretch biscuit and wrap stick

Stretch out a biscuit and wrap it onto the fat end of the Woof ’em stick.

Slip the biscuit off of the stick end.woof-em fillingFill your biscuit with layers of your favorite fillings.

Woof-em: a delicious campfire treat biscuit. You've gotta try these, the cream with the hot savory biscuit...mmm

Always top your Woof ’em with whipping cream and woof it down!  The hot savory biscuit and cool whipping cream are unexpectedly delicious together.  I don’t know who originally invented the Woof ’em, but they’re a genius.

We also think these roasted biscuits will make a fun campfire dinner.  A few dinner options, fill your roasted biscuit with:

  • Taco meat, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese (these taste like mini Navajo Tacos, Mmm)
  • Ham and cheese
  • Chili, tomatoes and cheese
  • Sausage and scrambled eggs

Please let us know what your favorite concoctions are.  Enjoy your Woof ’em.

Thanks for pinning!
