Today we are talking about the DeWALT 12″ Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw DWS779. I’m excited to be reviewing this model because it’s very similar to the DWS780 that I’ve been using for the last 2 years, but the price point is $200-$250 less!!!

Mobile Miter Saw Station and Storage

I have been slowly trying to get my garage/workshop organized and easy to work in as a shared space. Two major things that I have issues with are storage and work space. I use this old table as an assembly table/ miter saw stand.  I am tired of pulling the heavy miter saw on and off the table and want a permanent spot for it. But since it’s my garage, it really does need to be mobile.

A miter saw station with all the bells and whistles. There is plenty of work space, stop blocks and loads of storage! Free building plans that can be adjusted to any miter saw.

The features that I want in a miter saw stand are:

  • #1 – Plenty of support for the boards being cut – no more cantilevering an 8′ board off of the small miter saw table!
  • Useful space – room for my tape measure and plans, but I want to keep the cut space clear (I have a clutter problem).
  • Room for a vacuum
  • Measuring guide for easy repeat cuts.
  • Mobile

I’ll be honest, I’ve been wanting to review one of these DeWALT miter saws ever since I was tiling my sister’s house back in 2013 and the builder was using it to do all of the nice trim work. Maybe the saw was up sitting on it’s pedestal (stand) gleaming in the sunlight, but it’s been on my wishlist ever since. Needless to say, I had high expectations for this saw and it did not disappoint.
