Growing up, my Mom always decorated the house to make us feel special on our birthdays! Some of my siblings relished in the birthday festivities, others down played their birthdays. Nevertheless the birthday party table cloth, blow up birthday cake, happy birthday balloons and reusable contact paper stickies adorn the house on birthday morning! What fun things do your … [Read more...]
Americana Door Art
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I love Memorial Day, it gives us a day to celebrate the lives of those that have passed & for those that serve our country. I wanted to add a little more Red, White & Blue to my porch, so I came up with this Americana pallet art. The idea is inspired from a cute stars and stripes pillow that I saw at Pottery Barn and this cute … [Read more...]
Pinewood Derby Medal
For the last few years, I've cut wood slices to make placement medals for the local nature center's annual Fly with the Flock fun run. This year as I was cutting the wood slices for the fun run, I thought that they would be fun for a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby medal. I volunteer with the local cub scouts, and whipped these up for the boys. I think the boys liked their medals, … [Read more...]
Whimsical Birdhouse
Oh I am so excited for Spring! Nothing says Spring like hearing the birds chirp, keeping the windows and doors open because the temperature is perfect, the blossoms on the trees, and everything turning green again. Ahh how I love Spring. A fun way to celebrate spring is to build a birdhouse with the kiddies. I've made a pattern for a fun little whimsical birdhouse. … [Read more...]
ONC Birdhouse Competition
It feels like Spring has Sprung, and the little birdies are tweeting and patiently waiting for a hip new pad! Luckily for them, it is time for the Ogden Nature Center (in Ogden, Ut) annual Birdhouse Competition. DIY photo backdrops
I love the granite in my kitchen. I think that it's called Typhoon Bordeaux, it has these beautiful rusty-red and charcoal swirls all through out a creamy base. But one thing that I've learned about my granite, is that it is a TERRIBLE backdrop for photos! It is very evident with my Simple Circuit photo, are there even wires in that picture? It's like camo :-) I have … [Read more...]

The overall size of the … [Read more...]
LOVE Wood Blocks
Valentine's Day is fast approaching...wasn't it just Christmas? This cute Valentine's Day craft was inspired by Robert Indiana's LOVE statue in Philly, 'tis the season of love. I cut the LOVE wood blocks out of a scrap piece of 2"x12" pine board, other materials will work too. The finished size of the LOVE blocks is 10 1/2" x 10 1/2". The pattern is split onto two pages, … [Read more...]
Wooden wall tree – knockoff
My Mom’s friend picked up this fun modern wooden wall tree at West Elm last year. My Mom has wanted one ever since. The Wooden wall tree is no longer available at West Elm, but it’s not too hard to recreate. I made a few adjustments with building materials that are readily available at the hardware store. … [Read more...]
Behold Him Blocks
Last year I saw the Behold Him blocks on pinterest. I thought that they were soooo cute. When Christmas came around the pin had a broken link, so I did my best to recreate it. I made them for my neighbor gift for Christmas. Since then I've found another link to I think the 'original' Behold Block creater. I believe she sells them here. Definitely the cutest ones out … [Read more...]
