Wood Bunny Easter Basket

A friend in my neighborhood decided to start a weekly rotating craft club for our kids. We rotate different skills or activities for the kids to learn, each Mom taking 1 week/month. On my first week, I decided to make an Easter themed craft, a wood bunny Easter basket. I thought it would be fun for them to hammer together a little basket and have fun painting it with their creative ideas. The kids really got creative with their paint colors, very bright and unique.

Scrap Wood Christmas Tree Ornaments

Can it really be December already? Christmas is just right around the corner. Time to get that Christmas tree put up and decorated! I’ve been using knotty alder in some of my build projects lately, leaving me lots of small 6″ or less cut offs. Looking at my growing pile of scrap wood, I decided to make a few new ornaments to add to my tree. These scrap wood Christmas tree ornaments are a perfect way to use up scrap wood 6″ or less. Plus they are very simple to make.

Magnetic Christmas Countdown Sign

My kids LOVE counting down holidays and events. My daughter even gets her calendar out and starts counting down to her next birthday…the day after her birthday. 🙂 To say that we love advent calendars around here, would be an understatement. I’m joining in on a Deck the Home Christmas challenge this week, and the theme is wood signs. I had a piece of scrap sheet metal, so I thought it would be fun to make a magnetic Christmas Countdown wood sign. The little golden star helps the kids countdown how many more days until Christmas. Also check out the rest of the wood signs in this challenge at the bottom of the post.

Table Top Gingham Christmas Trees

Gingham has been holding strong in Christmas decor for a few years now. The gingham has changed color combos a little, but I seem to see it everywhere. I thought it would be fun to use up some scrap wood and make a few table top gingham Christmas trees. As long as you paint these cute little trees with chalk paint (that dries quickly), then you can easily knock out a few of them in 2 hours!

I made a few trees in green and white.DIY green and white gingham Christmas Trees for your table top decor. Free vinyl template file to make your own.

And some in black and white:

Both color combos turned out fun IMO. Do you have a favorite color combo?
